Plot details for No Time to Die, the next instalment within the James Bond franchise, are being so closely guarded that fans are anticipating a movie packed with twists. Now, one of the film’s stars has confirmed that the outing will definitely be full of things fans won’t see coming.

“It’s a tie-up of Skyfall and Spectre,“ Naomie Harris, who has played MI6 agent Eve Moneypenny since 2012, told GQ in a recent interview.

“But with massive, massive surprises that even had me like, ‘Oh, wow!’ So I think we’re going to really shock people.”

As Harris continued to note what kind of 007 viewers should expect this time round, the Moonlight actor explained: “I would say that he’s reconnected with his heart.

“We’re definitely seeing a Bond who’s more in touch with his feelings and more open to falling in love.”

Perhaps we’ll see a Bond that’s more reminiscent of the one saw in Casino Royale? When he fell hard for Eva Green’s ill-fated Vesper Lynd before she ‘betrayed’ him by embezzling money?

Either way, Harris sees it as a reflection of how the franchise’s depiction of female characters has changed in recent years.

“At the end of Spectre there are women [Bond] gives his career up for: there’s no more emotional attachment than that,” she added. “It’s just about moving with the times and recognising that women can no longer be seen as eye candy.”

Harris also went on to recall how she read the script all in one go after renowned Bond producer Barbara Broccoli hand-delivered it to her in the hopes of avoiding certain plot points being leaked.

“It was the personal touch,” she said. “There was no putting it down, no stopping for anything. It’s going to be fantastic.”

When No Time to Die reaches cinemas next year, Harris will be joined onscreen by fellow returning actors Rory Kinnear, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright, Léa Seydoux, Christoph Waltz, Ralph Fiennes and, of course, Daniel Craig.

Newbies to the franchise include Knives Out‘s Ana de Armas, Captain Marvel‘s Lashana Lynch, Game Night‘s Billy Magnussen and Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek.

James Bond’s 25th movie No Time to Die has a UK release date of April 3, 2020, and opens in the US on April 8, 2020.
